This site is dedicated to the students who graduated John Marshall High School, Chicago, in 1957 and to those who taught them. At that time Chicago public schools admitted students twice a year: September at the start of the academic year, and January mid-way through the academic year. In high schools this resulted in two graduations annually, one in January and one in June. The starting point for the database of graduates used on this site is the list given in each of the class books published in 1957.
High school graduates were usually around eighteen years old. Those who were in the classes graduating from Marshall in 1957 would now be around 83 years old. While many are still alive there are also many who have died since graduation. Where known that information will be given.
Information on the teachers is taken from various yearbooks supplemented in recent years by that great repository of information, the Internet.
